    (1) Fullerene Chemistry
    We are investigating the chemistry of fullerenes (C60 and C70) both in liquid phase and in solid state. The high-speed vibration milling (HSVM) technique is used for the soventless reactions of fullerenes. Fullerene derivatives with cationic or anionic groups are water-soluble. Some of the water-soluble derivatives have shown interesting biological properties. They have potential application in drugs. Currently, various water-soluble fullerene derivatives are being synthesized, and their physical and biological properties will be explored.
    (2) Green Organic Synthesis
    Organic reaction under solvent-free conditions and microwave irradiation or high-speed vibration milling is the current focus.
    (3) Theoretical Calculations
    Theoretical studies on the ongoing reactions in our research group are performed to better understand the reaction mechanisms.
    (4) Electron Transfer Reactions
    Collaborated with Professor You-Cheng Liu, electron transfer reactions involving coenzyme NADH models are being studied.
