Undergraduate Commencement 2011 Held
USTC' s undergraduate commencement ceremony was held on July 2, at which diplomas were awarded to more than 1,862 students.Songs Let Us Sway Twin Oars and Love of the Republic opened the Ceremony.
Deputy Party Secretary Lu Ming announced the University's decisions to honor outstanding students in recognition of their excellent performance.
Vice President DOU Xiankang read the University' s statement on the granting of bachelor's degrees to 1,697 students who had successfully completed their university education.
In his commencement address, President of USTC and Chairman of the degree Conferral Committee HOU Jianguo extended his congratulations to the students. He noted that the students’ experiences in their four years at USTC will be lifelong memories.
When sharing his experience and understanding of life, alumnus HU Weiwu hoped that the students would bear USTC mottos in mind, pursue excellence in their future study and work, and contribute to the development of the nation, remember the USTC spirit of “Plum” and “Bull”, the symbol of hard working and quiet attitude. In his address, LIU Xiaoge expressed all his fellow students the deep feelings for USTC and profound gratitude to their teachers.
USTC leaders XU Wu, HOU Jianguo, DOU Xiankang, YE Xiangdong, CHEN Chushegn, ZHOU Xianyi, ZHU Changfei, deans CHEN Yang, LI Jiayu, LIU Wandong, YANG Jinlong, CHEN Xiaofei, SHENG Liusi, and aluminus 86, Chief Engineer of Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences HU Weiwu awarded degrees to the new graduates. Deputy Secretary of USTC Party Committee LU Ming hosted the ceremony.
